Appointments may be made by telephoning 0121 270 7180, by calling into the surgery or online.
Online appointments may be made up to 2 weeks in advance. All other appointments are bookeable on the day and any urgent appointment requests will be passed to the duty doctor who will call you back to assess the nature of your problem and allocate an appointment as appropriate, in some situations you may be asked to attend the surgery immediately.
It is helpful if you can give us a brief reason for the request so that we can prioritise calls.
Online booking is available via the link at the top of this page.
Changes to our way of working since covid
Please rest assured we are still here for you! We have had to alter the way we see patients due to your health and safety and the health and safety of the staff here at the practice.
All GP / ANP appointments will now be triaged by a phone call in the first instance. The clinician will then determine if a next step is needed, whether it be by a video consultation through your phone or by bringing you into surgery for a face to face appointment depending on your need.
Many nurse check-ups can be managed over the phone and where needed we will book an appointment to see you in surgery.
If you cannot keep your appointment, please inform us as soon as possible as this will assist in oversubscribed situations.
Many patients do not need to see the doctor or find it inconvenient to come to the surgery. If you need to speak to a doctor please ask the receptionist. The doctor may be busy with another patient. Please make sure you keep us updated with your home and mobile telephone numbers and any change of address. There may be occasions when we use the SMS message service to contact you using your mobile number, please let us know if you wish to opt out of this service.
These will currently take place over the phone and you will be contacted by the surgery to book in with a member of the team. Please find a link below to a patient leaflet for your review.
Extended Practice Opening Hours
Croft Medical Centre has extended the availability of appointments, mainly for patients with long term medical conditions who, due to commitments such as work or care of the elderly or disabled, cannot attend routine follow-up appointments during normal surgery hours.
These appointments are available to book up to one week in advance and sessions are held at Bosworth Medical centre every weekday evening between 18:30 - 20:00 and at the weekend from 09:00 - 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday. These appointments are for routine consultations and are not intended for emergencies (the 111 service is in operation to cover emergencies during these times).
Appointments are available with a variety of clinicians during these times.
There is free parking at Bosworth Medical Centre and it is located next door to a pharmacy.
Failure to attend an appointment without prior notification of cancellation (24 hours) may result in this facility being withdrawn on an individual basis (at the practice's discretion).
Patients are requested to telephone before 10.00am if a visit is required that day. Only emergency visits will be arranged after that time. Please give the receptionist as much information as possible in order to help the doctor plan the visits.
The clinician that visits you may not always be from this practice as we use a Home Visiting Service in collaboration with other local practices. Please ask if you wish to see a particular doctor and we will try to arrange it. If you think an urgent visit is necessary please explain this to the receptionist.
A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.
House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
All patients are signed up automatically for this. If you wish to dissent from this please contact reception.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
